Queensland legislation requires local governments to prepare and review a Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) every 5 years. The LGIP is a long-term plan (over 15 years) outlining the trunk infrastructure necessary to serve the community and support growth across the city. This includes water treatment facilities, sewerage treatment plants, major roads and parks. The LGIP is designed to provide services in a coordinated and cost-effective way.
LGIP v1 was adopted in May 2017, as part of an amendment to the Logan Planning Scheme 2015. Council prepares amendments to keep the LGIP up to date, with LGIP v1.1 adopted in October 2019, and LGIP v1.2 adopted in February 2022. LGIP v1.3 is now being proposed as an interim amendment to update the infrastructure delivery schedule and maps to reflect more detailed current planning and service priorities.
What’s changing in LGIP v1.3
The changes proposed in LGIP v1.3 affect all 6 trunk networks: water supply, sewerage, stormwater (drainage), movement (roads), parks, and land for community facilities (such as libraries and sports fields). There are updates to estimated costs and timing in the schedule of works, and changes to priorities. These changes result in some items being removed, and some items being added to the plan.
The survey on the proposed changes to LGIP v1.3 has now closed.
Council will consider the views put forward, and they may be adopted as an amendment to the Logan Planning Scheme 2015 in 2024.
The proposed changes introduced in LGIP v1.3 will also be carried forward into the new planning scheme, Logan Plan 2025.
