Logan City Council is preparing a new planning scheme for our city to deliver the best possible outcomes for our future. Logan Plan 2025 will keep the parts of our current planning scheme which are working well, and make improvements to make sure our policy is keeping up with the expectations of our community and changing Queensland Government requirements.

The City of Logan is growing, and the way land is used and developed makes an important difference to our future. This growth is guided by the Logan Planning Scheme 2015, which tells us what types of development can happen where (e.g. houses, industry, shops) and what rules they need to follow (e.g. how high, how big, how many carparks, manage flood and fire risks, etc.).

The process and procedures for Council's committee meeting are currently being reviewed with a view to developing a consolidated framework for meetings.

The Queensland Parliament recently passed legislation for amendments to the State Penalties Enforcement Regulation 2014. These amendments have resulted in an increase in the penalty for drivers who illegally use disability parking spaces.

Logan City Council has a long and positive history of working with volunteers for the mutual benefit of Council and community. The Parks branch manage volunteers in three programs;

• BushCare;
• TrailCare, and;
• Honorary Park Ranger.

All programs have been in operation for many years.

Council recently undertook a review of the Parks Volunteer Framework focusing on;

• Modernising Health and Safety practices;
• Increasing efficiencies;
• The rationalisation of resources, and;
• Improving the volunteer experience.

In 2009 the state government earmarked Park Ridge South and Chambers Flat for future urban development. This is reflected in the South East Queensland Regional Plan 2017 (the regional plan) where the area is included within the Urban Footprint, meaning that detailed land use and infrastructure planning is to be undertaken by Council.

Three rounds of community engagement have now concluded with final submissions received on the proposed cat and dog local laws.
